Tips to take care of your Boat

If you are one of those people who enjoy outdoors recreational activities, and this is why you worked hard to get your own boat to have fun in the sea every time you get the chance and with whomever you want, we will give you some advice to keep it in perfect conditions.

The first step is to know it; in time this will be something very natural and your boat should always work in the same way, that’s why if you feel there is something unusual, a sound, odor, or different vibration, you have to pay attention to it, you will keep yourself away from going through a bad time in the future, for example, an odd sound could mean that the pump is getting dry, the smell of a burning tire could be that something is loose and a weird vibration could mean that the stern needs to be checked.

When it comes to gasoline, there are two important aspects to be considered. The first one is not to overfill the tank, because when gasoline is heated, it expands and this can cause some damage, therefore when you hear the first click of the fuel pump, stop!

The second aspect is that modern gasoline has a lower impact in the environment because some of its components pollute less, however they dissolve certain materials and pipes of the tank which could make the engine of your boat stop working, so check the filters every once in a while and have some extra parts on board if you ever need to change them.

Regarding lighting, an important tip is to change the lights for a LED system, they are brighter, use less energy and last longer compared to conventional light bulbs. In this way, your boat will always be visible in the dark and you will decrease the percentage of accidents, mainly when you move it on its trailer on the road.

Finally, when it comes to the engine, after three or four times you use it, it is important to provide maintenance to it, something simple, apply some spray to avoid corrosion probably caused by salt water, always check that the hoses and cables don’t break, remember to grease the steering head tube at least once a month if you sail a lot.

Don’t neglect the maintenance of your boat, though it seems like a lot and tiresome, make your investment be worth so you can enjoy sailing with no problems, and just focus on having a good time.
